Challenge: A large number of bids for complex telecommunication systems were being received by the AT&T sales teams across the USA. The sales force and their associated bid management group were not able to process the volume of bids in an efficient or timely manner.
Solution: We documented their bid process and determined which functions should be outsourced. We helped to identify five vendors capable of supporting the overflow of work during peak periods. After the vendor was selected by AT&T we helped to establish a transition plan and an appropriate performance tracking system. This outsourcing arrangement was established in 60 days and enabled the sales team to participate in many more bids over the next 12 months than they would have been able to support if only existing internal resources were utilized.
